Al Gore received the Gothenburg Award for Sustainability in 2007, the same year he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. After his popular movie An Inconvenient Truth, former vice president Al Gore has continued his engagement in the environment. His book Our Choice, released in 2009, provides a number of possible solutions to the climate crisis. Application for Ipads and smartphones were also released with the new book. The Climate Reality Project is Al Gore’s most recent project which he launched on September 14, 2011. The purpose of the project is to get facts about the climate crisis to the general public and engage people in conversation about how to solve it. There are already five million members worldwide according to the organization. The Climate Reality Project claims on its website "The climate crisis is real and we know how to solve it." Al Gore was awarded the Gothenburg Award for Sustainability in 2007 with the motivation "for his relentless commitment to put an end to the climate crisis by increasing public awareness about global warming." He received the award on 22 January from the Swedish Crown Princess Victoria at Scandinavium, Gothenburg. |
